GSW Adds New Archives to Collection

GeoScienceWorld (GSW) announces the debut of significant new additions to the GeoScienceWorld Archive Collection.

The Société Géologique de France (SGF) has added articles and metadata for the Bulletin de la Société Géologique de France, back to 1985. The Seismological Society of America (SSA) has completed its release of Earthquake Notes, which were later published as Seismological Research Letters. GeoScienceWorld now contains all archival content for these publications from 1929 to present.

Alix Vance, Executive Director of GSW, says, "increasing access to current and archival journals is a high priority. Researchers value the top-quality research that our platform provides in one location. They are always seeking deeper content coverage with the latest features and interoperability. We are pleased to respond with important contributions such as these."

Françoise Rangin, Managing Editor of Bulletin de la Société Géologique de France, adds, "the French Geological Society (Société Géologique de France) follows in the footsteps of leading societies by making past issues available in GSW. Issues published during this period contain papers by French geologists on a wide range of subjects, from tectonics to paleontology. Geological papers tend to be cited long after their original publication, and making past issues of the Bulletin available is a valued service to the earth sciences community worldwide."

"The Earthquake Notes and early SRL issues were published by our Eastern Section," says Susan Newman, Executive Director of SSA. "In intraplate regions like Eastern North America, earthquakes are less frequent. Historical records and journal archives become especially important to the science. By digitizing these issues and adding the backfile to GSW, we will be extending the reach of our content to millions of users in 41 countries. This is an unprecedented level of access for our members and for researchers around the globe."
